There are several events coming up in the world of poker that see celebrities mixing up poker with charity benefits and others.
While a charitable cause will be behind a Super Bowl event being planned next month in Houston, there is another event of poker that is linked with the nonprofit organization, the Maximum Hope Foundation. This is a charitable organization that has benefited from a new poker room opening up in Tampa. This took place last week and charity was the central cause. The new poker room opened up in Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa, Florida.
The new poker room was opened with a poker tournament whose proceeds were given to the charitable organization. Brad Garrett, the Fargo star, smashed a guitar in the fashion of Hard Rock, and opened a non smoking facility in this hotel. The poker room that was inaugurated contained chandeliers, televisions of large screen dimensions, private salon and 46 tables to play.
The room also includes a snack area for the players. There is an exclusive car parking also offered to those who want direct access to the poker room by paying a fee of ten dollars.
The new room opening was inaugurated with the charity tournament, which was hosted by Garrett. The charity tournament helped raise ten thousand dollars for Maximum Hope Foundation, of which Garrett is a part of. The charity helps to support families who have children ailing with life threatening conditions. Indeed, many are wondering why this trend has not picked up more. Liv Boeree has been trying to get many of the PokerStars championships to contribute more to charitable causes. Many are willing such as Philipp Gruissem, Igor Kurganov and others who are on the board of Raising for Effective Giving. This organization is planning to have some poker based high roller events this year.
